We Fix Garage Door Openers – Garden City, NY

A garage door opener should be the most convenient thing in the house. When it runs but the door doesn’t move, powers off at random, or the remote stops working even with a fresh battery, it becomes the most frustrating. Nobody wants to get out in the cold in the middle of a New York winter to pull the door shut by hand.

We repair the problem that is stopping the opener — or, when the opener is worn out, replace it with the right model for your door and your garage. Ask for a free estimate and you will see the price before we start.

The brands we work with

LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie openers

LiftMaster garage door openers

The professional line — sold and installed by garage door companies rather than off the shelf. Strong motors, long warranties from the maker, and myQ smartphone control built into most current models.

  • Belt drive — quiet, smooth, a favorite for attached garages (e.g. the 84505R with battery backup).
  • Chain drive — tough and budget-friendly for detached garages.
  • Wall-mount (jackshaft) — mounts beside the door on the torsion shaft, like the 8500W; ideal for high ceilings, storage racks or tight headroom.
  • Camera & myQ models — see and control the door from your phone.

LiftMaster repair: logic boards, gear kits, sensors, travel limits, Security+ 2.0 remotes and keypads.

Chamberlain garage door openers

Chamberlain is made by the same company as LiftMaster and sold mainly at home centers. Many Chamberlain models share parts, remotes and the myQ app with LiftMaster, which makes them easy to repair.

  • Belt and chain drive models with myQ Wi-Fi.
  • Battery backup on many models — the door still works in a power outage.
  • Craftsman openers sold for years were also built by the same maker, and we service them too.

Chamberlain repair: openers that hum but don’t move, lights that flash, remotes that stopped pairing, myQ that dropped off Wi-Fi.

Genie garage door openers

Genie made the screw-drive opener popular — few moving parts, strong lift — and also builds chain and quiet belt-drive models, including the StealthDrive line.

  • Screw drive — simple and strong; a little louder than belt.
  • Belt drive — quiet operation for attached garages.
  • Aladdin Connect — Genie’s app for phone control and alerts.
  • Intellicode rolling-code remotes and keypads.

Genie repair: worn carriages and gears, limit and force settings, sensors, remote programming.

A new opener needs a balanced door. If your springs are weak, we fix the springs first — otherwise the new opener wears out early.

Garage door opener questions

Updated October 2026. Something else? Call (516) 493-4680 and tell us what the door is doing.

Is Chamberlain the same as LiftMaster?

They are made by the same company. LiftMaster is the line sold through professional installers; Chamberlain is sold mainly in stores. Many parts, remotes and the myQ app are shared, and we repair and install both.

Do you repair Genie garage door openers?

Yes — Genie screw-drive, chain and belt models, including StealthDrive, plus Intellicode remotes, keypads and Aladdin Connect setup.

How long does a garage door opener last?

Many last 10 to 15 years. When an older opener needs a costly board or motor, or lacks safety sensors, replacing it usually makes more sense — we will tell you which.

Why does my opener hum but the door won’t move?

Often a broken spring makes the door too heavy, or a stripped drive gear inside the opener. Pull the red release with the door closed and try lifting by hand; if it’s very heavy, it’s the spring.

Can you add myQ or a battery backup to my opener?

On many LiftMaster and Chamberlain models, yes. We check the model on site and tell you what it supports.

LiftMaster, Chamberlain or Genie acting up?

Tell us the brand and what it does. We carry the common opener parts on the truck.
